Hill stations in Maharashtra for a quick New Year getaway. You will need to take a break from work and city life sooner rather than later if you reside in a metropolis like Mumbai or Pune. Maharashtra is fortunate to have some of India’s top hill stations. These mountain towns are adored for their waterfalls, luxuriant green forest cover, gorgeous lakes, and perpetual mist.
Lonavala
Lonavala, which is part of the Pune district, is just 96 and 64 kilometres from Pune city, respectively. We can see why it’s one of the most popular fast weekend escapes. In Lonavala, it’s not unusual to find lovely waterfalls, incredible hiking trails, rock-cut caverns, and rich vegetation.
Matheran
Matheran is one of the greatest places due to its location on the Western Ghats mountain range. But even it isn’t the nicest feature of this highland town. Matheran is a really serene place to visit. peaceful as in there is no needless horn blowing from passing cars!
Igatpuri
Igatpuri, which is also in the Western Ghats, is a wonderful place to visit. The Vipassana Academy, the biggest meditation centre in the world, is located in Igatpuri, a city that is far from the commotion of cities like Mumbai and Pune.
Mahabaleshwar
From Mumbai (285 miles) and Pune, Mahabaleshwar makes for a very enjoyable and scenic self-drive vacation (120 km). Even though the roads are winding, they do lead to some of the best Western Ghats views.
Khandala
Khandala is situated at the summit of Bhor Ghat, one of Maharashtra’s most naturally beautiful regions. The Sahyadri range has excellent trekking trails with stunning scenery. Popular tourist attractions in and around Khandala include Rajmachi Point, Sunset Point, Kune waterfalls, Tamhini ghat, Bhaja and Karla caves, and Bhushi Lake.
Panchgani
There are many stunning sites in Panchgani because it is surrounded by five picturesque hills. Panchgani has them all, whether you’re looking for woods, valleys, or waterfalls. It was once a well-liked summer resort for the British officers.
