Seasoned actor Asrani gave some memorable performances. However, the actor encountered a lot of rejection before becoming well-known in the Hindi cinema industry. He put a lot of effort into getting into Hindi films. Asrani recently recounted on The Kapil Sharma Show, when he made an appearance alongside Shakti Kapoor and Tiku Talsania, how director Hrishikesh Mukherjee neglected him for four years but continued to pay visits to his home in the hopes of obtaining a break in Bollywood.

How did I become a part of Guddi?
It took me five years after completing my acting training to land the role of Guddi in my first movie. I used to visit Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s residence since I used to follow him. But each time, he would warn me not to go inside his house because there were dogs. He also used to unleash his three dogs on me whenever I entered.
But everything changed when Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Gulzar, and a few Bengali helpers visited the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune. Asrani recalled, “When they arrived. I wanted to tell them that Jaya Bhaduri is my mother since I was annoyed by their question. I then made a call to Jaya from the canteen. She was informed by me that Hrishikesh Mukherjee is hunting for you. Her tea cup fell to the ground as she cried out, “Hrishi kaku!”
