Every year on January 26th, India celebrates Republic Day. The 74th Republic Day will be celebrated this year. It is a significant day in Indian history because it marks the establishment and adoption of the Indian Constitution.

History
Every year on January 26th, Republic Day is observed to commemorate the implementation of the Indian Constitution. India gained independence on August 15, 1947, but it did not have its own constitution until much later. The legislation was based on the Government of India Act of 1935. On August 29, 1947, a resolution was passed to appoint the drafting committee, led by Dr. BR Ambedkar, who became the Chairman to form the constitution, to form the constitution.
It took two years and eleven months to establish the guidelines under the Constitution, which went into effect on January 26, 1950.
Significance
Republic Day celebrates the independence and freedom of India. As well as the right of Indian citizens to elect their own government representatives. Because a democratic system was implemented. The day is observed as a national holiday, so people can take the time to celebrate the festival with various activities and events. All local, state, and national government agencies, as well as commercial establishments and businesses, remain closed or reduce their operating hours.

The Celebration
Throughout the country, the historic day is celebrated with zeal and pride. The special occasion is marked by a parade that includes all three branches of the military. As well as various ‘Jhankis’ representing various states and union territories to showcase their distinct cultures. To honour the martyrs who gave their lives for the country, the Ministry of Defence also bestows bravery awards on military personnel, citizens, or individuals for acts of bravery.
