Mark Wood Reveals How Dhoni Destroyed KL Rahul’s Plan In IPL Match

As MS Dhoni entered the game to bowl the final over of the innings, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mark Wood had plans for the Indian captain. The CSK captain was undoubtedly aiming for the stars because his team needed a strong result. The strategy that Wood and LSG captain KL Rahul had outlined for Dhoni was straightforward: Bowl a bouncer wide of off-stump so that MSD can’t get a hold of it, then make the pull connection. Dhoni flashed his blade on the first of these balls, and the outside edge went over the ropes at third man. Next, Wood bowled even more quickly, but Dhoni already being aware of the strategy, retrieved the ball from outside off and pulled it over the deep square leg.

Prior to the upcoming home game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Wood told the media that he had plans for Dhoni. But they failed and cost him 12 runs off of 2 balls. The England pacer continued by saying that he too was in awe of Dhoni’s pull shot, which went for six.

“I made every effort to free Dhoni.  Had no intention of defending myself. I unfortunately lost 12 runs as a result. He hit his second attempt for a six, and it  an incredible shot. KL and I made the decision to bowl a bouncer wide so that if he was to hit it, he would have to catch it wide of the off stump.

Before making his debut for the brand-new team this season, the LSG pacer had played just one game. He scored 49 runs for CSK back in 2013, which was five years ago. Wood has returned to the IPL to make a second point. that he is a member of this level. Wood claims he has unfinished business in this location. He currently holds the Purple Cap after two games and eight wickets.

“The last time when I was with Chennai, I was nowhere near the mark. I played in one game and lost badly. I believe I still have some unfinished business. Must succeed on this important stage. I played well for England in the IPL and T20, but I haven’t had much success in the IPL.

Wood added that while he is aware of other fast bowlers in the IPL who regularly reach speeds of 150 kph. He does not bring them with him when he goes out to bowl for LSG. He just wants to be quick and precise.
