Mother of Madhuri Dixit, Snehalata Dixit, passed away on Sunday, March 12 at the age of 91 in their Mumbai home. She will be cremated today at 3 p.m. in a crematorium in Worli, according to reports.
According to reports, Snehalata Dikshit passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by her loved ones. As Madhuri Dixit and her husband Shriram Nene said in a joint statement.
In 2013, Madhuri and her mother worked together to record a song for Gulab Gang.
The director, Anubhav Sinha, spoke about the experience to IANS, stating, “When we asked Madhuri to sing a song in the movie, she gladly consented to do so. We learned her mother is a really talented vocalist when she arrived for the recording with her. So we requested that her mother sing a song. We eventually managed to get Madhuri and her mother to perform in the movie.”
Madhuri remembered how her mother Snehlata Dixit’s treatment of her remained the same even after she achieved fame and money as a performer. “I mean, even when I was working in films, my parents used to reprimand me if my room was cluttered and things like that,” she continued. So that is how I was raised. And I am in that way. Everything is back in the studio when I get home. It’s just a different life when I see my husband and kids. I was never truly lost.

When her mother turned 90 years old last year, Madhuri Dixit shared a touching message on social media. She posted photos of her mother with “Happy Birthday, Aai! A mother is supposedly a daughter’s best friend. They couldn’t possibly be more correct. The greatest gift you have given me out of all that you have done for me are the lessons that you have taught me. I only want the best for you—happiness and health!
