Founder of the far-right Oath Keepers, Stewart Rhodes, has been found guilty of seditious conspiracy and other offenses. This was in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Rhodes of obstructing an official proceeding and tampering with documents was also convicted by a federal jury in Washington, D.C.
Stewart Rhodes was acquitted of two other conspiracy counts.Rhodes did not enter the Capitol during the riot. Instead of this, he stood outside like a “battlefield general” surveying his troops, prosecutor.
The three defendants were acquitted on that central charge
All five defendants on trial in this case were charged with seditious conspiracy. In addition to Rhodes, Kelly Meggs, only one was found guilty.The three other defendants Jessica Watkins, Kenneth Harrelson and Thomas Caldwell were acquitted on that central charge.
All of the defendants were found guilty of obstructing an official proceeding with mix of other charges. After nearly three full days of deliberations, Jurors returned their verdict. More seditious conspiracy trials are set to start in the coming weeks

What’s all in the Prosecution’s case?
The government called more than two dozen witnesses, including FBI agents, in this trial. Capitol Police officers and two Oath Keepers who stormed the Capitol pleaded guilty to conspiracy.The government’s case was the hundreds of text messages.
Facebook communications with audio and video recordings allowed jurors to see and hear what the defendants were saying on the day itself and afterward.In those communications, Rhodes and his co-defendants spoke in incendiary about violence and civil war to keep Donald Trump in power.
Days after the 2020 presidential election, Rhodes told his followers that “We are not getting through this without a civil war. Prepare your mind, body and spirit.” The defendants began taking steps to coordinate their activities. Meanwhile, Rhodes kept urging his followers to resist a potential Biden presidency. According to him, it would be an illegitimate puppet regime of Communist China.
