Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt bought the Harare Hurricanes team for the upcoming Zimbabwe Afro T10 League. Aries Group of Companies founder Sohan Roy will be the joint owner of the Indian celebrity team. One of the six teams participating in the league was also bought by the Pakistani franchise.
For the league, Zimbabwe Cricket has collaborated with T10 Global Sports, the organization that organizes the Abu Dhabi T-10 League. The Zimbabwe Afro T10 League will be a 9-day tournament. The league will start on July 20 and the final will be played on July 29 at Harare Sports Club. A total of 5 teams will participate in the tournament.
Apart from Sanjay Dutt’s Harare Hurricanes, Durban Qalandars, Cape Town Samp Army, Bulawayo Braves and Joburg Lions Gym will be the other four teams participating in the Afro T6 League. The player auction will be held in Harare on July 10.
Sanjay Dutt said after buying the team that cricket is like a religion in India. It is our duty to spread this game to every corner of the world.
One of the six teams was also bought by the Pakistani franchise.
Pakistan Super League team Lahore Qalandars also owned the team named Durban Qalandars in the Zimbabwe Afro League. Lahore Qalandars won the PSL in 2022 and 2023. Pakistan’s businessmen Atif Naeem Rana and Sameen Naeem Rana own both teams.
The league will be held for the first time in Zimbabwe, the final on July 29 is going to be the league for the first time in Zimbabwe. The first match of T-20 will be played on July 10.
