After “Avatar” became the most successful film in history. Worthington was elevated to Hollywood’s A-list. He almost got to put on Green Lantern’s spandex when he met with director Martin Campbell (who also directed “Casino Royale”) during the casting process for the 2011 superhero film.
“It didn’t make sense to me — the suit emerges from his skin?” Worthington recalls asking. “And I was like, ‘He’s got this powerful ring that can create anything,'” she says. ‘Well, what can compete with the ring?’ Nothing was the answer. ‘Well, something has to beat it, or it won’t be very interesting,’ I thought.
The filmmakers attempted to give him a better understanding of the franchise by displaying Green Lantern’s most powerful weapon.
