There have been rumours about MS Dhoni’s potential retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) for a while now. As Dhoni is busy preparing for IPL 2023 with Chennai Super Kings, a few of experts have already stated that he won’t be taking part in the league after this year. In a recent conversation, Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, offered his opinion on the subject. Saying that Dhoni appears healthy enough to compete in the IPL for the next two to three seasons.
Dhoni has perfected the role of a finisher
“For the past two to three years, I have heard that MS Dhoni’s final season will be this one. He is healthy enough, in my opinion, to play a few more seasons “At the MI preseason press conference, Rohit said.
Dhoni has perfected the role of a finisher, and nobody compares to the former India captain, according to Rajasthan Royals’ Riyan Parag.
The Guwahati-born player, 21, who will compete in his sixth IPL season this year, noted that while he is content playing the finisher position, he would prefer to bat at position No. 4 in the competition.
“I would choose position No. 4 if the Royals were to ask me where I wanted to bat. But as always, I’m willing to play wherever the team needs me and thinks I’ll fit in best. It’s a team game, therefore I’m happy to contribute in any manner the combinations work out “said Parag to PTI.
“For the past three years, I have been performing the finishing role. There is only one name that comes to mind, MS Dhoni, who I have already said. Nobody else, in my opinion, has perfected that skill. I always look up to him when I play that role because of how he takes games deep or how he finishes them “said Parag.
