PM Modi Congratulates Guneet Monga, “The Elephant Whisperers” for winning Oscars

Due to the success of “Naatu Naatu” and “The Elephant Whisperers,” India will take home two Oscars this year. The nation is quite happy with the victories, and PM Modi also praised the teams. PM Narendra Modi congratulated the cast of “The Elephant Whisperers” on their Oscar victory through Twitter.

Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga’s “The Elephant Whisperer,” a Netflix original documentary short film, won India its first Oscar of 2023 in the Best Documentary Short Film category. The director continued by expressing gratitude to the Academy, producer Guneet Monga, her family, and her “motherland India” for the honour.

The documentary short film “The Elephant Whisperers,” which received an Oscar nomination for best documentary short film, presents the narrative of their devoted connection with beautiful shots of Tamil Nadu’s natural beauty.

In 2019, Guneet Monga received her first Academy Award after her short “Period. End of Sentence” took home the prize for Best Documentary Short Film.

The Elephant Whisperers tells the story of an indigenous couple named Bomman and Belli

The Elephant Whisperers is a 2022 Indian Tamil short documentary film. It marks the directorial debut of documentary filmmaker Kartiki Gonsalves. The film explores the relationship that forms between a couple and Raghu. An orphaned young elephant who was placed in their care. The movie, which was made by Sikhya Entertainment, had its international premiere on November 9 at the DOC NYC Film Festival, a documentary film festival in the United States.

On December 8, 2022, Netflix made the movie available for streaming worldwide. During the 95th Academy Awards, it took home the trophy for Best Documentary Short Film.
