Recently, Priyanka Chopra Jonas made headlines when she revealed that she had quit Bollywood because of shady politics. The international star is still making headlines, but this time not for the right reasons.
It all began when Priyanka Chopra Jonas congratulated Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, a Pakistani director, on becoming the first woman of colour and the first woman to be in charge of a Star Wars movie. She referred to the director as ‘South Asian’ while doing so.
“She’s South Asian and the first person of colour to direct a ‘Star Wars’ movie! @sharmeenobaidchinoy, what a moment in history. I am so happy for you, my friend! May the force be with you. In one of her Instagram stories, Priyanka wrote.
In response to Priyanka’s post honouring Sharmeen, Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui, who debuted in Bollywood,
“Respectfully, @priyankachopra Just to refresh your memory, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy is originally from Pakistan. Similar to how you proudly display your Indian nationality whenever you have the chance before asserting that you are South Asian,” he tweeted.
“How much false information is too much false information? Bollywood offers the solution. Come on, Yaar, use all your money to hire some competent researchers to conduct research on us. or let me assist you. Make sure to take notes: “No, we don’t go around throwing adaab, we don’t ask janab about their mijaz, we don’t wear skull caps, surma, or tawiz,” he had said.
