Breast cancer have many forms and isn’t just one disease
Like many chronic diseases, Breast’s cancer can take many forms. Some types of it are easy to pick up even in the early stages, others can be a lot more difficult to diagnose. The reason behind reacurrence of breast’s cancer is the higher the stage, the higher the cancer, the higher risk of it coming back. Breast cancer isn’t just one disease, it’s a collection of multiple diseases.
Why are some types of breast cancer easier to diagnose?
We are generally taught to do thorough breast self-examinations to check for unusual lumps, which can be a sign of cancer. But, lumps do not always appear in breast cancer.This can make it easier for the signs unnoticed during self-examinations, and even on mammograms.
In the vast majority of diagnosis of breastcancer, their cells stick together, as they’re called ductal cancers. Whereas, people with lobular breast’s cancer is where there’s a defect in a protein called E-cadherin which makes the cells not stick together. They’re less likely to be picked up on normal mammograms because they don’t follow the form of a solid mass.
Chemotherapy and radiotherapy target cells that are growing and dividing quickly. But there may be existing slower cancer cells in the body that haven’t found a ‘friend.’ Because their competition has gone and the fast cells have died. Now, slower-growing cells may mutate and start to grow again.
