Narendra Modi Inaugurates International Mopa Airport In Goa

In honour of the late Manohar Parrikar. The new Mopa airport in Goa will be called Manohar International Airport. The prime minister Narendra Modi announced on Sunday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the Mopa International Airport in Goa with the goal of boosting travel and tourism in the coastal state.

Known for his leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Goa. Parrikar served as the state’s chief minister from March 14, 2017, till his death. He had previously held the position of Chief Minister of Goa from 2000 to 2005 and from 2012 to 2014. Additionally, from October 2014 until March 2017, he held the position of defence minister.

Regarding Mopa Airport

The PM laid the cornerstone for Mopa Airport in November 2016. It will be the state’s second airport; Dabolim is home to Goa’s first airport.

Under the previous administration not a single airport was built in a single year. Development will take place wherever there is dual engine governance.

For about 2,870 crore the airport was constructed using the concept of sustainable infrastructure. Prime Minister Modi lay the foundation stone for the airport in November 2016.

According to an official statement from the government

the State Government of Goa is developing a Greenfield airport at Mopa, Goa, under public-private partnership (PPP) mode at a revised sanctioned project cost of 2,870 crore.” The new international airport is situated in Goa’s northern region. 35 kilometres from Panaji, the state’s capital.
