I never set out to upset anyone: JK Rowling speaks out against anti-trans comments backlash.

Author JK Rowling addressed the matter and made an effort to set the record straight two years after receiving harsh criticism for her remarks about the transgender community. Rowling’s remarks over the past two years have been widely interpreted as demeaning, particularly towards trans women. The author of the “Harry Potter” series has addressed the controversy and stated she never intended to “upset anyone” in a new podcast titled “The Witch Trials of JK Rowling.”

Following the controversy, Rowling spoke about how many fans believed she had ruined her legacy. “You’ve ruined your legacy,’ is a statement made by fans on social media in recent years that has intrigued me. Oh, you could have had my love for all time, but you said this. You could not have misunderstood me, I think.

“I never intended to annoy anyone. I didn’t feel awkward about stepping down, though, Rowling said in the podcast’s trailer. On February 21, “The Witch Trials of JK Rowling,” hosted by Megan Phelps-Roper, will make its debut.

Rowling, the author of the best-selling Harry Potter fantasy book series, alienated and infuriated a lot of fans in June 2020 with a series of tweets about transgender people. Rowling stated in one of the tweets, “If sex isn’t real, there isn’t same-sex attraction.  I am familiar with and adore trans people, but eliminating the idea of sex.

Actors who have portrayed Rowling in films based on her books, such as Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Eddie Redmayne, have spoken out against her in response to those remarks and others that have since been made. Additionally, Rowling was excluded from the celebration of the “Harry Potter” movies’ 20th anniversary in 2021.
