Where is this temple?
Lakhamandal village is about 40-45 km from Chakrata. There is a temple of Lord Shiva here, which is known as Lakhamandal Shiva Temple. There are mysterious caves in this village. It is sai d that this is the place where, Duryodhana conspire to kill the Pandavas. The Pandavas were kep t in the lakshagriha, but the Pandavas escape from here.
That’s how the temple got its name.
We all know that every temple has a different story behind it. Lakhamandal was also name after the story of its formation. Lakha means lakh and Mandal means linga. That is, a million genders. It is said that the Pandavas had installed lakhs of Shivalingas at this place here. Due to this, the name of this village was Lakhamandal.
Structure of the temple
The structure of lakhamandal temple is similar to Kedarnath temple. Inside the temple there are idols of Lord Shiva, Parvati Ganesh, Durga, Vishnu, Kaal Bhairav, Kartikeya, Saraswati and Sun Hanuman.
