In front of over 47,000 spectators at the DY Patil Stadium on Sunday, Smriti Mandhana’s inspirational knock, followed by late hitting from Rich Ghosh, helped India tie the score of 187 with Australia and force a super over.
Graham was given the ball to bowl the super over in her T20I debut.
However, Australia’s strategy backfired in front of Mandhana and Ghosh, as India scored 20 runs off Graham’s bowling. In response, the visiting Australian team was limited to 16 points, and India handed Australia their first T20I defeat since 2022.
“I had not anticipated bowling the super over… I thought Shooter (Megan Schutt) might have gotten the nod “Graham stated following the game.
“But I consider myself extremely fortunate to have had such experiences in the WBBL. So I just relied on that, and the fact that the WBBL also had the Power Surge gave me a lot more confidence in myself.”
Graham was the most economical bowler in the game, taking three wickets in her four overs.
Graham revealed that she was on the verge of tears after the match, as she was wrapping her head around the outcome.
“Unfortunately, it did not come off today… when I walked off the field, to be completely honest, I probably wanted to cry because I did not execute what I wanted,” Graham said of the super over.
“But I believe that if I execute on another day, it will be a completely different game. So, sometimes you just have to take it with a grain of salt, and that is cricket for you.”
