On April 12, HBO Max announced that there will be another prequel to Game of Thrones. It is titled – A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. The series will be based about 90 years prior to the events laid in George R R Martin’s A Song Of Ice and Fire.

Game Of Thrones Prequel

During a Discovery presentation to the press and investors, Warner Bros. made this declaration. The show will be based on Martin’s novellas. Both Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and a young Aegon V Targaryen (Egg) will have their lives and exploits followed.

The title track’s instrumental background music was playing when the official announcement was made on social media. The caption read, “A century before Game of Thrones, there was Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg.”

The official logline statement was cited by Variety. The description stated that the story would take place in a time when the Targaryen held the iron throne and the last dragon’s memory was still “living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits.”

Vince Geradis, Ryan Condal, Ira Parker, and Martin will serve as the executive producers. The Hedge Knight has been given a straight to series order, according to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Release And Streaming

In order to give viewers another streaming option, HBO Max and Discovery+ have partnered to create Max. HBO content will no longer be available to Disney+Hotstar subscribers starting on March 31.

The launch of streaming has not yet been announced. The series will also be written by Martin. Many such projects have previously been announced, but we only got to see House of the Dragon, which was published in August 2022. Its second season is expected to stream in 2024

Plotline Of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

Three novellas—The Hedge Knight (1998), The Sworn Sword (2003), and The Mystery Knight (2010)—were published by Martin as part of the Tales of Dunk and Egg series. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a compilation of them, was released in 2015.

With the help of Egg, his squire who was actually a Targaryen Prince, Duncan the Tall set out on an adventure. To keep his identity a secret, he must pose as an everyday person.

The two men encounter difficulties as they travel through Westeros. They became comedic tragedies when they tried to solve them. It may not be as intricate and compelling as Game of Thrones.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a simple and enjoyable book to read. After the impression that Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon have left, it would be interesting to see its adaptation on the big screen.
