Golden Globe: The Biggest Snubs And Surprises

The Golden Globe nominations for 2023 are out, and there were a few snubs and surprises, as there always are with major awards shows.
Now that you’ve caught up on the essentials, it’s time for the fun part: snubs and surprises.
Snub: Will Smith
Smith won the Golden Globe for best performance by an actor in a motion picture. For his work in King Richard last year. But was not nominated for his work in Emancipation this year. Smith’s behaviour at this year’s Academy Awards is likely to have had an impact here.

Surprise: Steve Martin
Martin was nominated for best performance by an actor in a television series. Musical or comedy for his work in Only Murders in the Building. The surprising part isn’t that. The fact that he has yet to win a Golden Globe is surprising.
Snub: Harry Styles
Styles was passed over by Globe voters for both of his 2022 films. He was not nominated for best actor in a motion picture. Drama or best actor in a supporting role in a motion picture for Don’t Worry Darling.
Snub: George Clooney & Julia Roberts
The Globes are known for nominating big stars for supporting roles in films that have received mixed reviews. But these two beloved stars were passed over for their leading roles in the rom-com Ticket to Paradise.
Surprise: ‘Inu-oh’
GKids’ Inu-oh was nominated for best animated motion picture, beating out films like Strange World and My Father’s Dragon.
Snub: Adam Sandler
For the Netflix film Hustle, Sandler was passed over for a nomination for best actor in a motion picture – musical or comedy. Despite being one of the top comedy box-office stars over the last three decades. Sandler has only received one Academy Award nomination for Punch-Drunk Love.
Surprise: Jenna Orega
Ortega, 20, is nominated for best actress in a television series – musical or comedy for her role in Netflix’s Wednesday. According to the Globes, she is the second-youngest nominee in the category’s history.
Snub: Jason Bateman
For her role in Ozark. Laura Linney was nominated for best performance by an actress in a television movie. Her co-star Jason Bateman was overlooked for an award in the equivalent actor category.
