Extraction 2: Tyler Rake’s bloodied, shot-up body falls off a bridge into the ocean at the conclusion of the first Extractio. Leaving only the tiniest trace that he managed to survive his daring rescue operation in a Bangladeshi city. However, Rake (Chris Hemsworth) survived, and he is now back in Extraction 2 to take on a new mission that is important to him personally: He must rescue his ex-wife’s sister Ketevan (Tinatin Dalakishvili) and her two children from a Georgian prison and then protect them from the paramilitary terrorist group in which her husband is a high-ranking member.
Does he succeed in his quest this time around without passing out at the last minute? Do we get to see Rake’s hitherto unnoticed ex-wife? And what is going on with the new character that Idris Elba, Hemsworth’s Thor co-star, is portraying? No need to physically assault me to get this information. Without resorting to violence, everything is about to be exposed!
In ‘Extraction 2’, Rake Accepts a Personal Mission
Yes, of course, Rake manages to win out in the end once more, and this time he doesn’t risk his life quite as much. However, that does not imply that rescuing Ketevan and her children will be simple. The foursome, along with Rake’s handler Nik (Golshifteh Farahani) and her brother Yaz (Adam Bessa), head to Austria where Ketevan hopes to begin a new life after rescuing the trio from a Georgian prison (killing Ketevan’s drug- and weapon-dealing husband in the process). Sandro (Andro Japaridze), the older child, reaches out to his uncle Zurab (Tornike Gogrichiani) and divulges their location as he begins to question his commitment to his mother.
A Growing ‘Extraction’ Universe Is Hinted at in the Final Scene
But hold on! The assignment to rescue Ketevan was initially given to Rake by a mystery and well-dressed figure named Idris Elba. Who turns out to be Tyler’s “Get Out of Jail Free” card. In the very last scene, Elba’s character makes a brief appearance for an off-limits meeting with Rake, telling him he can get both Nik and Rake out of jail as long as they come and complete another task for him. Rake still doesn’t know the name of Elba’s character, but Elba says that’s less important than “who he works for.” Who is that, too? We never learn! Simply put, Elba calls them a “gnarly motherfucker” and predicts that Rake would adore them.
