Car Sales Report May 2023: It has been just three days since the month of May and one after the other. All car manufacturers are releasing sales figures of their vehicles. One good thing in these figures is that big companies seem to be benefiting. While the problem of semiconductor chips for electric car makers remains the same even today.
In May 2023, a total of 3,35,531 units of passenger cars have been sold. This is the fifth consecutive month when more than three lakh vehicles have been sold. In terms of vehicle sales, Maruti, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra and Toyota have been at the top and their share is also the highest. Let’s take a look at the statistics in detail. Passenger vehicle sales have seen a growth of 13.99 percent year-on-year. While on a monthly basis it has seen an increase of 1.21%. In May last year, a total of 2,94,342 units of vehicles were sold, which has increased to 3,35,531 units this year.
Talking about companies, Maruti Suzuki is at the top as always.
On a year-on-year basis, Maruti’s sales have increased by 15.45 percent, in May last year, the company sold 1,24,474 units, which has increased to 1,43,708 units this year.
Hyundai Motors is second after Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motors’ sales have registered a growth of 14.91 percent compared to last year. In May last year, Hyundai sold 42,293 units, which has increased to 48,601 units this time.
Tata Motors sold 43,341 units last year, which increased by 5.85 percent to 45,878 units this year.

Mahindra & Mahindra, an indigenous company in fourth place, sold 26,904 units last year, which increased by 22.23% to 32,886 units this year.
Japanese company Toyota Motors is at number five, this company has seen tremendous growth in business. Toyota’s sales have increased by 99.78 percent compared to last year. In May 2022, Toyota sold 10,216 units of passenger vehicles and this time the figure has crossed 20,410 units.
