Buzz Aldrin, the astronaut who led the first human journey to the Moon. Announced on Facebook that he had married his longtime partner in a small ceremony in Los Angeles. As the first person to set foot on the moon, Aldrin joined Neil Armstrong in making history.
The wedding took place on January 20, the day of his 93rd birthday.
“I am happy to announce that Dr. Anca V. Faur and I, our longstanding love and companion, got married. In a modest, private ceremony in Los Angeles, we were united in holy marriage, and we are as thrilled as teens planning to run away, Aldrin said on Facebook.
Faur is Buzz Aldrin Ventures LLC’s executive vice president. In addition to spending time with Faur’s grandchildren, Aldrin claimed on Twitter that the two have been dating for more than four years.
A few photos of the newlyweds were included in the Facebook post, which as of this writing had accumulated 65,000 likes and loves. The 63-year-old executive vice president of Buzz Aldrin Ventures, Mr. Aldrin’s company, Dr. Faur, is a PhD chemical engineer.
An estimated 600 million people saw the famous moonwalk by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969. There had never before been such a sizable television audience.
Overnight, Buzz Aldrin became well-known. The third crew member, Michael Collins, was forced to stay inside the spacecraft that was positioned on the Moon. Therefore he was never able to walk on the Moon.
The late US President John F. Kennedy pledged to send a manned crew to the Moon and return them safely to Earth.
