Bengali films have been acing it in their portrayal of women who aren’t looking for a “saviour

Bengali films have excelled in their portrayal of women who aren’t looking for a “saviour,” whether they be adaptations of Mahashweta Devi, Sarat Chandra, our Rabindranath Tagora’s works, or movies made by Aparna Sen or Satyajit Ray. Instead, as they go through the world, they engage in their own conflicts. In their tales, Bengali movies have continuously tried to show these strong, independent women.

The culture is reflected through movies. Despite the fact that most movies are fiction, the culture and psychology in our environment serve as inspiration. Bengali cinema have been doing it for decades now. However Bollywood still lags behind in terms of creating more female-centric films and different roles for women.

These Bengali films have been chosen as must-sees for women across the nation.
